How to create a derived rate plan?

Rate Plan: DERIVED

A rate plan can either be Derived or Base. Derived essentially means the rate plan is not independent in terms of pricing and is deriving from another rate plan, applying a specific pricing rule from the rate plan it is deriving from. This means the pricing cannot be inserted manually by calendar date, it will be automatically applied by the pricing rule. Here's how you can set it up:

STEP 1: Go to SETUP > RATE PLANS, and click on NEW RATE PLAN (or edit and existing one, if it's not Base and you wish to change).


STEP 2: Fill in the details on the first sections: NAME (mandatory), TEASERLONG DESCRIPTION and IMAGES.

STEP 3: In the IS DERIVED FROM area, select the rate plan from which this rate plan WILL DERIVE FROM. Also take a look and select the other elements such as:

    - IS PROMOTION (if marked, restrictions will be available to select bellow)
    - OPEN SALES LATER (if marked, a full stop sales will be applied to this rate plan for all calendar dates)
    - MEAL PLAN
    - MEAL PLAN NOT UPGRADABLE (if marked, the guest cannot choose meal plan upgrade in the Booking Engine)
    - CANCELLATION POLICY
    - GUARANTEE POLICY
    - ROOM TYPES (mark the room types to be available for this rate plan)

STEP 4:  Click on the SET RULES button for each room type to insert the PRICING RULE. If the RULE is the same for all rooms, mark the option APPLY TO ALL ROOMS so you don't have to repeat the process. 

         

STEP 5: For each room type, select the PRICING RULE you wish and insert its amount - There are 6 pricing rules available:

    - SAME PRICE: to have the exact same price by calendar date as the 'parent' rate plan.
    - FIXED AMOUNT: to discount or increase a fixed amount (with possibility to set different fixed amounts per week day).
    - PERCENTAGE: to discount or increase a percentage (with possibility to set different percentages per week day).
    - PERCENTAGE FIXED: to combine a multiple discount or increase of a percentage first and fixed amount after.
    - FIXED PERCENTAGE: to combine a multiple discount or increase of a fixed amount first and percentage after.
    - PERCENTAGE PERCENTAGE: to combine a multiple discount or increase of a percentage first and another percentage after.

NOTE: For the 3 rules of multiple combination, you cannot combine a discount and an increase, you always have to either discount twice or increase twice.
You must either DISCOUNT and DISCOUNT or INCREASE and INCREASE.

STEP 6: Click on SAVE AND CLOSE, and the RATE PLAN DERIVED is created.


IMPORTANT NOTES: 

- If you marked the option IS PROMOTION, you may insert the restritions you wish at the final area.

- If you have a PMS or external CHANNEL MANAGER connected in Guestcentric the rate plan must be MAPPED in that system for Guestcentric to receive calendar updates (except price updates, just open/stop sales) and to send reservations. 

- The prices by calendar date for this rate plan cannot be changed and the pricing rule will always be applied on top of the price existing on the rate plan 'parent' (rate plan from which this derived one is deriving from). The system will reject pricing updates from a PMS or external CHANNEL MANAGER for this rate plan
